On our way to Saul Junction!
We had hoped to get the boat nicely smartened up before we left Fenny Compton but we just didn't manage it; so with many jobs still to do and the front cabin still unpainted, we are on our way to Saul Junction. We shall probably be the scruffiest 'Northwich Trader' at the festival - and we are in the parade of boats on Saturday!
I am writing this after arriving at Stratford-on-Avon and the above photograph shows our boat tied up against the pleasant parkland opposite the famous theatre. As we ascending the 20+ locks at Hatton, we hardly saw another boat and with almost all the locks against us it took us nearly four hours. We moored at Wootton Wawen on the Stratford Canal late on Thursday, 22nd June 2006 and arrived at Stratford-on-Avon this afternoon to be greeted by crowds of tourists!. After spending most of the weekend at Stratford we hope to cruise down the Avon through Evesham to Tewkesbury and then down the Severn to Gloucester. Our plan is to arrive at Saul Junction on the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal just before the Festival starts.
