W014 RUHLA 'ANKER' GENTLEMAN'S WRIST WATCH (W014)

Offered for sale is a brand new and unused Gentleman's mechanical Wrist Watch manufactured in the former East German Republic (DDR) during the early part of 1980 to a basic design dating from a much earlier period; this is a typical solid watch from the 'Cold War' era and is believed to be old shop stock that was never sold - nevertheless, it does require a very minor and easily carried out repair to be described as being in full working order. It is otherwise complete and supplied fitted with its original imitation croco-leather arm band - never worn.

W025 ELBEE BRAND WRIST WATCH - MADE IN ENGLAND (W025)

Offered for sale is an unusual British made child's (or ladies) Wrist Watch believed to have been manufactured in 1975. Little more is known about this brand but the watch has a gilded aluminium case, approximately 29mm in diameter and a HF 10.5"' pin pallet movement in gilded brass with no jewels. The watch is believed to be in working order.

W027 SMITHS EMPIRE WRIST WATCH - BRITISH MADE (W027)

Offered for sale is a Smiths, British made, mechanical Wrist Watch from the 1950s or 1960s, these watches were made at the Smiths/Ingersoll factory at Ystradgynlais near Swansea in South Wales - the factory closed in the early 1970s. The watch is in working order but in unrestored, as found, condition so it would most likely benefit from a clean and service.

W029 MILOS DOCTOR'S WRIST WATCH (W029)

Offered for sale is a neat precision made mechanical 'Doctor's Wrist Watch' by Milos - a brand of the Swiss Savoy Watch Company aimed at markets in Hong Kong and Asia. It is believed that this timepiece was made in 1960 or thereabouts and it features the red sweep seconds hand and accurately graduated chapter as demanded by medical practitioners. This is a very attractive medium sized watch that is in excellent working order; It winds, sets and runs very smoothly and keeps good time.

W043 FANCY PENDANT WATCH, MADE IN GERMANY BY CLIPPER (W043)

Offered for sale is an unusual gilded pendant watch decorated with imitation jewels; the incredibly small 17 jewel mechanical movement was manufactured by the famous Glashütte Uhrenbetriebe (GUB), located in the former East German Republic (DDR) and renowned for their exceptionally high quality time pieces that were used by the officials, military and state organisations throughout the Soviet Bloc. This piece is as new and unused but is probably 30 to 40 years old - so will need a clean and service.

W055 COLD WAR ERA, EAST GERMAN, MILITARY WRIST WATCH (W055)

Offered for sale is a solidly made 15 jewel mechanical Wrist Watch manufactured in the former East German Republic (DDR) by UMF/Ruhla for use by personnel on active service with that nation's armed forces (Nationale Volksarmee) during the Cold war era. This is a collectible or investment historical timepiece that is in working order and it would be ideal as an accessory for period re-enactments, plays and film work. Service number: 37/268/0004.

W064 RUHLA GENTLEMAN'S WRIST WATCH (W064)

Offered for sale is a Gentleman's mechanical Wrist Watch manufactured in the former East German Republic (DDR) during the 1980s to a basic design dating from a much earlier period; this is a typical solid and simple watch that would have been generally available throughout the former Soviet Bloc nations during the 'Cold War' era - it would make an nice accessory for a period play or film and is offered complete with strap - all in 'as new' condition. In full working order but, in view of its age, may benefit from a service.

W067 ANKER 'NIVAFLEX' - 21 JEWEL MECHANICAL WRIST WATCH (W067)

Offered for sale is a fine Gentleman's mechanical wrist watch from 1946 with a high quality Durowe, Caliber 1258, 10½"', 21 Jewel movement and a stainless steel case (marked shock proof and waterproof) with a military style black face and luminous hands. This watch is in working order (though, in view of its age a clean and service would be recommended prior to regular use) and it has a centre sweep seconds hand with arrow tip in red and graduated chapter. All in all, a very nicely engineered and attractive period timepiece.

W093 SMITHS HIGH QUALITY WRIST WATCH - BRITISH MADE (W093)

Offered for sale is a high quality Smiths, British made, mechanical wrist watch  with 15 jewels from Circa.1958. These watches were made at the Smiths/Ingersoll factory at Ystradgynlais near Swansea in South Wales - the factory closed in the early 1970s. The watch is in working order, having benefited from a professional repair, clean and service at the Ystrad Watch Service Centre (now closed but it was run by former employees of Smiths) in October 2003 and it has not been used since.

W095 WALTHAM 'TRAVELER' GOLD CASED POCKET WATCH (W095)

Offered for sale is a Waltham 'Traveler' 1899 model, 16 size, seven jewel, stem wind and time set movement made in the United States in 1907 - serial number 15,806,716. It is cased in a British made, Dennison 9 Carat (0.375) Solid Gold, triple-hinged, 50 mm diameter case, serial number 26,846. The watch is in very nice used condition but, in view of its age, a clean and service would be recommended prior to regular use.

W119 GLASSHÜTTE GENTLEMAN'S AUTOMATIC WRIST WATCH (W119)

Offered for sale is a high quality gold plated gentleman's wrist watch manufactured in the early 1990s by the legendary, Glashütte Uhrenbetriebe (GUB). Now part of the international Swatch empire, the craftsmen at Glashütte still build timepieces of the highest quality which, these days, sell for very high prices! When the Saxony town of Glashütte was part of the East German Republic (DDR), the historical watchmaking concerns, for which the town had become famous, were part of a state controlled co-operative with its own watchmaking academy.

W136 OMEGA CAL. 265, LARGE 12¾ LIGNE, 15 JEWELS, WRIST WATCH (W136)

Offered for sale is an Omega mechanical Wrist Watch from the late 1940s. The watch features the large (12¾ Ligne) and robust Calibre 265 movement - which features copper coloured plates and 15 jewels. The watch was found in Germany, where (we believe) the dial face may have been professionally repainted. A new mainspring was fitted in 2004 and the watch is in good working order, with a nice pig-skin wrist band or strap, although it would benefit cosmetically from the fitting of a new crystal.

W164 WALTHAM 'PIONEER' LARGE 15 JEWEL POCKET WATCH (W164)

Offered for sale is a Waltham 'Pioneer' 1883 model, 18 size, fifteen jewel, stem wind and time set, gilded full plate movement made in the United States in 1888 - serial number 3,766,503 with porcelain 'Double sunk' dial, sub seconds at the six, Roman numerals and blued steel hands. The watch is housed in its original Waltham 'Coin Silver' swing-out hinged case with screw bezel, serial number: 6378. The whole package represents a really nice, period, timepiece that is in excellent original condition, whilst benefitting from being in full working order and keeping good time.
